Todd Eddy, age 60, passed away at Monument Hospital in Rapid City on December 4, 2022. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, Papa and friend.
Todd was born in Belle Fourche, S.D. to Jim and Shirley (Schmidt) Eddy on Friday the 13th of March 1962. His Mom always joked of what kind of luck she had.
He grew up in Spearfish, where he played Spartan Football, attended Boy’s State and graduated in 1980. It was while obtaining his Business degree from Black Hills State University that he met Robin – the love of his life for the last 41 years. They were married September 21, 1985 and have held hands since. Their oldest son, Travis, was born in 1989, Trenton was born in 1994, and Ryan was born in 1998.
After graduation, he worked for close to 30 years at Pioneer Bank & Trust, a few years at BankWest, and was currently with Black Hills Federal Credit Union. He enjoyed working and helping clients and made lifelong friends with co-workers.
He volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels, Jaycees, United Way, 25 years with Pheasants Forever, Consumer Credit Counseling and served as treasurer for many organizations, including the Stevens High Quarterback Club. At one time he calculated cooking roughly 1600 burgers for the team and parents over the eight years that his boys played football. Todd was dedicated to his church. He would retire from one board/committee to join another and served recently as moderator. Todd loved his church and the friends he made there.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate, Robin, sons Travis (Lita), Trent (CC), and Ryan (Maddy), his father Jim, brother Robert (Renae), niece Ansley, nephew Tanner, and sister Kathy, in laws Warren and Dorothy Melcher, and brother-in-law Jiggs (Jeri Jo). He loved being a Papa to his granddaughters Riley and Dylan. His face would beam when he walked in the door and a yell of “PAPA” echoed as they ran to him for a giant hug.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley (Schmidt) Eddy.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 9 at First Congregational United Church of Christ located at 1200 Clark St. Rapid City. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Todd Eddy memorial at First UCC.
