Beverley Jane Haggart, formerly of Bison, SD passed peacefully September 17th, 2021 at the Good Samaritan in Mott, ND.
Beverley (Bev) Jane Clevan was born March 22, 1936 at Chimney Town, SD to Oscar and Florence (Nelson) Clevan. In her younger years the family moved to Ft. Pierre, SD. Bev attended grade school in Ft. Pierre and High School in Pierre.
Bev came to Zeona, SD with a girl friend and her boy friend for a special party. While there, she met the love of her life, Wilber. They were married April 22, 1954.
They made their home with Wilber's parents on the Haggart family farm. To Bev and Wilber’s' union, two children were born; a daughter Rita and a son Lowell.
Bev and her mother-in-law spent their summers gardening and canning, getting ready for the winter months. In 1972 Wilber, Bev, Rita and Lowell moved to Bison. Wilber went to work for his brother Jim and Bev took up babysitting for numerous children.
Bev had a passion for knitting and crocheting. She crocheted or knitted beautiful blankets or afghans for her children, grandson, and great grandsons. She would take on a project and sometimes it was best to stay away until she had it figured out. You could get wrapped up in a ball of yarn. She made numerous pairs of slippers and dish towels. She would see something she liked and figure out how to make it.
Bev loved to play cards and board games. Numerous Saturday evenings were spent with Lowell and Renee playing games and laughing. After Wilber’s' retirement he started gardening. Bev and her beloved
Wilber started canning. They spent a lot of time canning kraut, beans, tomatoes, beet pickles, and pickles. And at Christmas time they made canned meat for Rita and her family and for Lowell and Renee.
One of the things that you didn't interrupt at Bev’s was Days of Our Lives. Come in and keep your mouth shut...or you might be one of the grains of sand running through the hour glass.
With health failing, Bev and Wilber moved into the Good Samaritan Society in Mott. Bev still got to watch Days of Our Lives, play cards and knit or crochet.
Bev is preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Florence Clevan, her in-laws Rube and Ida Haggart, Sister Lois (Clifton) Turner, Mary (Lyle) Henrickson, an infant brother Ludwig and a nephew Bill Henricksen.
Bev is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years Wilber, daughter Rita Whittet, Haynes ND; son, Lowell (Renee) Haggart, Lemmon, SD; grandson Jeremy (Jennifer) Weifenbach; great-grandsons, Thomas and Tyler Weifenbach Fargo, ND, and Dylan Jacobson, Bowman ND; nephews, Mike and Pat Turner; nieces, Julie (Turner) Dove and Vicki (Jim) Peacock, and Bonnie (David) Abby; and numerous relatives and friends.
