Theodore ’Ted” Tibble Lesselyoung was born on November 11, 1940, in Dupree, South Dakota, to Edna "Faye" Tibble Lesselyoung and Gordon Sylvester Lesselyoung. He grew up on a ranch near Faith with younger siblings Tom, Joyce, Rita, and Robert.
Ted married Madonna Joan Dustman in 1963. To this union were born three daughters: Monna, Wendy, and Lanette. On January 10, 1970, Ted married the love of his life, Bonnie Irene Podoll. As a result of this union, Jon and Jodi were born.
Ted wore many hats throughout his life. He served as a fireman in Rapid City during the 1972 flood. His long-term career was with the South Dakota National Guard, enlisting after high school and beginning full-time service in 1983. He retired in 1996 as the State Command Sergeant Major. He proudly held the #3 Coyote Den card and loved spending time with friends.
He will be remembered for his humor, wisdom, and the memorable sayings his family affectionately called "Tedisms", many of which were best left unrepeated. His love for the Denver Broncos, hunting, fishing, and golfing carry on through his family.
He leaves behind many relatives and friends he cared deeply about. Ted is survived by his wife Bonnie; siblings Tom Lesselyoung, Joyce (Bill) Dustman, Rita (Glenn) O'Connell, and Robert (Judy) Lesselyoung; children Monna (Bob) VanLint, Wendy (Joe) Johnston, Lana (Jay) Sanner, Jon (Veronica) Lesselyoung, and Jodi Glanzer; grandchildren Brittney (Nathan), Krista (Nathan), Colin (Kirby), Jordan (Dallas), Chaney, Afton (Gabe), Mandy, Logan (Ashley), Allison, Alexander (Katie), Samuel, Davon (Sami), Sophia, and Abigail; great-grandchildren Reghan, River, Knox, Josslyn, Jett, Parker, Bennett, Bo, Beau, Nash, Zion, Tyce, Camryn, Boone, Marlee, Tripp, Jayco, Braxton, Tegan, Jaden, and Lennon; many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Faye and Gordon, infant brother Steve, first wife Madonna, niece Amy Lesselyoung, and nephew Chad Lesselyoung.
He will be missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Sargeant Major.
