Eva Richardson

Eva JoAnna Richardson, age 17, from Sheldon, North Dakota, passed away on Monday, August 24th, 2026, near her home in a car accident.
Eva was born Monday, December 8th, 2008 in the Richardson family home to Brent and Nina Richardson, where she lived her whole life. She joined her older siblings Mattie, Sawyer, Clarissa, Noah, Violette, and Sarah, and later a younger sister, Carrie.
Eva was homeschooled until tenth grade and participated in 4-H, homeschool co-op, and youth group at her church, West Prairie Free Lutheran Church in Kindred, North Dakota. She decided to attend Lisbon High School her junior year, where she enjoyed meeting many new people and making new friends. Her favorite class was North Dakota Studies with Mr. McCleary, and she was proud to be on the honor roll.
She excelled at writing, which was something she had a deep passion for. She had written multiple books with her sisters as well as having authored several herself. It was her hope to eventually get them published. For three years, she worked at Pizza Ranch in Lisbon with her sisters, who cherished every moment they spent working with her.
She had an adventurous spirit and would never turn down an opportunity to go on a random “side quest,” whether it be going to McDonald’s at one o’clock in the morning, pulling an all-nighter to wash clothes with her sister Clarissa and brother-in-law Jerod at their laundromat in Lisbon, or grabbing some ice cream and heading to the skatepark.
Eva was sassy, creative, and endlessly hilarious. Whether it was her one-of-a-kind caricatures or her wildly outlandish “would-you-rather” questions, she had an incredible gift for making life fun and brought countless laughs to those around her. While you had to earn her laugh on her own terms, it was more than worth it when you saw her beautiful smile.
She loved playing video games with her sisters and friends, going on shopping trips to Fargo, spending time with her nieces and nephews, and listening to music. She wrote many different song lyrics, often jotting ideas down in a notebook whenever inspiration came to her.
Eva’s sideways smirk, her mischievous spirit, and her ever-present Monster Energy drink in hand (which was very much needed) will be forever missed by all of us.

Eva is survived by her parents, Brent and Nina Richardson; siblings Mattie (Dan) Schmitz, sister-in-law Jenna (Sawyer) Richardson, Clarissa (Jerod) Gemar, Noah (Esther) Richardson, Violette, Sarah, and Carrie; paternal grandparents Harvard and Pauline Richardson; nieces and nephews Liberty, Levi, Scarlett, Oliver, Josie, Adaline, and Henry; as well as a plethora of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Eva was preceded in death by her brother, Sawyer, and her maternal grandparents Matthew V. and Thelma (Fosheim) Schofield.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 30th, at 4pm with a prayer service following at 5pm at West Prairie Free Lutheran Church in Kindred, North Dakota. The funeral service was held on Monday, August 31st, at West Prairie Free Lutheran Church. A private interment was held at Barrie Cemetery.
