Kjerstad McKnight Law Office is open for business

“It was the most difficult test I’ve ever taken,” said Brittany Kjerstad-McKnight of her South Dakota lawyer’s bar exam. Her husband, Ryan McKnight, said, “It was extremely challenging, we studied all summer long.” Brittany added, “Twelve weeks straight, basically.
The married couple are the two new lawyers in Philip. Their practice is the Kjerstad McKnight Law Office. They are taking over Gay Tollefson’s office at 105 E. Pine Street, with the same phone number of 859-2783 and a website of www.kjerstadmcknightlaw.com.
Tollefson, except for finishing up a couple of things, worked her last day at the office, Sept. 28. “I feel that I am leaving my practice in good hands,” said Tollefson. Legal secretary Holly Nemec will stay on, only now with new employers.
The McKnights were informed Sept. 18 that they each had passed their bars. They were sworn in by Judge Patricia DeVaney in Bennett County, Sept. 22. Both McKnights are equally qualified, though Kjerstad-Mc-Knight has more studies in criminal law. McKnight, who also has a masters in business administration, is more prepared in business/state law. They will do business as a general practice law office.
