Robert White

Robert Wallace White of Rapid City, SD, formerly of Wall, died December 20, 2017 after a courageous fight with Alzheimer's and Parkinson Disease at the age of 76.

Robert White was born June 29, 1941 in Sturgis, South Dakota, the son of Ward and Margaret(Mayer) White. The family lived on a ranch near Pedro, SD. They moved to Wall where Robert went to school and worked for Junior Witcher at his gas station.

He was united in marriage to Claramae Campbell on August 16, 1959 in Wall at the First Lutheran Church. To this union three sons, Kevin, Kyle and Kelly were born. Robert worked for West River Electric in Wall until 1966 when he purchased Siefert Electric in Philip. In 1970 he moved to Deadwood and purchased the Wild Bill Bar. Robert continued to operate both the bar and his electric business until 1980 when he decided to sell the bar, move to Wyoming, and receive his Master Electrician's License.

In 1981 Robert went to work for the Dave Davis Company, an industrial construction company. He enjoyed this type of work especially because it allowed him to travel all over the country. He spent a year in China working on power plants, oil refineries, hospitals and factories.

When he wasn't traveling and seeing the country Robert spent his off time in Arizona. In 1997 he decided to quit traveling and "parked it" (as he put it) in Apache Junction, Arizona. There he started his own business, Junction Electric, working on both residential and commercial jobs.

Robert enjoyed living in Arizona and operating his own small business. However, in 2005 he was forced to retire after showing signs of dementia and in 2006 he had to move in with his son, Kevin. He was able to stay with Kevin in Apache Junction until 2010, when his Alzheimer's progressed to where he needed more care than Kevin could provide. Robert moved to a special care center in Rapid City, SD where he resided until his death.

Thankful for sharing his life are sons, Kevin White of Wall, and Kelly (Amporn) White of Herndon, Virginia; three grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, and Colton of Herndon, Virginia; one brother, Fred (Arlene) White of Rapid City; two sisters, Delores (Donnie) Poss of Philip, and Margy Kjerstad of Piedmont; a sister-in-law, Rose White of Wall; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son Kyle White on February 14, 2006, his parents, one sister Audrey Hoffman and her husband Maurice, and two brothers Dick and Bill White, sister-in-law Loretta White, brother-in-law Jerry Kjerstad and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, July 16, at the Wall Golf Course in Wall.

Arrangements are with Rush Funeral Home of Wall.
