Richard "Dick" Weller

Richard "Dick" Weller, age 80, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, died on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Mercy Medical Center in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
Richard ‘Dick’ Emil Weller, 80, passed away peacefully Sunday October 30, 2022 at Mercy Medical Center in Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Dick was born January 30, 1942 in Eureka, South Dakota. He graduated from Eureka High School and received degrees from South Dakota School of Mines (undergraduate) and Mankato State University (graduate). He married Audrey Cornish in June 1966 while serving in the Army and, after discharge in 1968, resided in Omaha, Nebraska. Dick and Audrey moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota in 1970 where they raised their children. In recent years they split their time between Minnesota and Arizona, enjoying warm weather and lots of golf, until moving to Anoka, Minnesota to be closer to their children.
Dick was a long time manager at Honeywell, enjoyed watching sports and was active in youth sports including coaching softball and basketball while his girls were playing. He loved singing, including as part of the choir at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka, MN, Holy Way Presbyterian Church in Tucson AZ, and the Coon Rapids Senior Center (Goldentones).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Emil Weller, brother Thomas Weller and niece Kirsten (Cornish) Budwig. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Audrey; daughters Mara (John) Determan of Kasson, MN, Christa Strenge of Andover, MN, and Carla (Brent) Johnson of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren Maia, Matthew, Brady, Halle, Von, Carolyn, and Levi; sister Barb Owens of Brainerd, MN, brothers Jim (Candy) Weller of DeSmet, SD and Harry ‘Whitey’ (Nancy) Weller of Kadoka, SD, special family friend Craig DeLacey of Wyoming, MN and many nieces and nephews.
At Dick’s request, his body was donated to the University of Minnesota for the advancement of science and no formal funeral will occur. A gathering of family and friends will be planned at a later date yet to be determined date.
The family welcomes donations to Zion Lutheran Church (Anoka, MN) or Holy Way Presbyterian Church (Tucson, AZ) as an expression of sympathy and in honor of Dick’s life instead of flowers.
