Nathan C. Bootz

Mass of Christian Burial for Nathan C. Bootz, age 31, of Lemmon, SD, was held on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at St. Mary's Catholic in Lemmon, SD. Fr. Adam Hofer and Deacon Mike Mellmer officiated, burial followed at the Greenhill Cemetery at Lemmon.

Public visitation was held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon.  A rosary/vigil service was held  on Wednesday evening July 27, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Nathan Charles Bootz, "Bootzee", was born May 2, 1991 in Hettinger, ND, completing the Bootz family for Patrick and Connie Bootz. Nathan joined his older siblings Wayne and Melissa.

The community of Lemmon lost this faithful servant due to a vehicle accident as he was returning home from a repair job early morning of July 23, 2022. 

Nathan was baptized, confirmed and later married in St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he was a current member.  In 2013, he proudly brought home this sweet Catholic girl he knew his parents would love, Stephanie Woodley. They were married September 14, 2019.  Nathan and Stephanie were blessed with son, Ryatt Charles, Nathan's 'mini-me' and his pride and joy born June 18, 2020.

Entrepreneur from the time he had his mom take his training wheels off his bike at 4 yrs old; before she was done he already had a jump ramp built. This was the start of his passion for Motocross, where he collected several 1st place trophies from SD MX, ND MX and Tri-State MX.  Knowing this hobby kept him busy, (and on the road), his mom knew Lemmon needed a Motocross track. They, along with the local Motocross community built the first track in town. He loved his MX family. By age 10, he learned from his dad how to train a good hunting dog, serving a passion shared with his dad.  He and Sadie were a great team.  Labs are a family favorite, and later Tiffy the Tire Dog was Nathan's well-known mascot. With a mission and focus on being a millionaire from early on, Nathan's work ethic and stubborn determination were the perfect match to make this happen.  He was well on his way, peddling the Finder to every house in Lemmon, saving his money to buy his first dirt bike, then buying a mower, trimmer and a trailer to haul it in.  Nathan had a love for the lake and spent as much time as possible at his family's cabin.  Nathan graduated from Lemmon High School in 2010, and gave a good college try at UND for three years for engineering, where soon he knew that sitting in a classroom wasn't for him.  He needed to keep busy. A natural motor head, Nathan had the opportunity to put his skills to work at Jerry's Repair.  Seeing and understanding the local need for large equipment tire repair, Nathan and his mom put together a business plan the bank was impressed with and in 2014 Bootz & Tires, LLC was found. When business slowed for the winter, Bootzee bought a Bobcat to do snow removal, often the first one to hit the streets on the cold winter mornings.  Most recently he expanded his business, buying a roll-back and started towing as well. Nathan was truly a 'Jack-of-all-Trades'.  People would often say he could figure out a way to fix or do anything, and he loved serving his customers in over a 100-mile radius of Lemmon.

Nathan believed in community, serving as a member of the Lemmon Volunteer Fire Department, alongside his dad and many friends. He was also a member of the Lemmon City Council, Lemmon Tractor Pull Association, Sons of American Legion, Legion Riders, and assisted the local EMT with back up help. Few have the friend base like Nathan Bootz.  He never met a stranger, and if he did, they were friends by the time he left, a quality he was given from his dad. He was always willing to help others. This network of friends will help carry Stephanie, Ryatt and the Bootz family in the days ahead.

Loved and left with cherished memories are Stephanie, Ryatt and Tiffy the Tire Dog; Patrick and Connie Bootz, Wayne Corcoran (Saydee), Belle and John; Melissa Dillman (Edward), Jase, Owen, Ezra; Grandmother, Dorothy Chase, Aunt Nola (Bob) Dietz,  Aunt Betty (Glenn) Hoyle, Uncle Bill (Leigh Ann) Corcoran, Aunt Mary Kay (Brad) Hauge, several cousins;  In-laws, Monty and Carrie Woodley, Matthew (Heather) Woodley, Noah and Zachary; Grandparents-in-law Kenneth (Verna) Woodley, Richard (Sharon) Schaefer.

Nathan was preceded in death by his Grandparents Dr. William C. and Margaret Bootz; John R. Corcoran, Uncle Steven Bootz, Cousin Kali Grace Coffey.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
