Lorraine Strid

Lorraine Strid, age 94 of Lodgepole, SD; passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at her home southwest of Lodgepole.

The Funeral Service for Lorraine was held at 10:00am Monday, July 25, 2022 at the Centennial Chapel of the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Hettinger.  Pastor Selva Perriannan officiated with burial in the Duck Creek Cemetery southwest of Lodgepole.

Serving as casketbearers are her children.

Clara Lorraine Chapman was born on March 26, 1928 in Perkins County, near Fredlund, SD to Glen and Clara (Fredlund) Chapman.

Mom started out her career as a school teacher then married our dad and had a family. She raised all 7 of us kids and held down the fort. After we were grown up and left the farm she helped dad raise pigs and sheep. After dad passed she helped our brother leo raise sheep and pigs and milk cows right into her 80s. She was Leo’s best confidante and a harder working hand than her would be hard put to find. Mom always loved to feed people and loved company, especially when her kids came home or called her. Mom lived out the rest of her day’s right where she wanted to, which was right here at the Strid farm. She will be greatly missed by all of us.

Surviving family members include her daughter, Olive (Kenneth) VonHayden, Elk Point, SD; 6 sons, Joel (Kathy) Strid, Douglas, WY; Eldon (Elaine) Strid, Kansas City, MO; Roger Strid, Buffalo, WY; Julius (Susan) Strid, Chehalis, WA; Todd (Kim) Strid, Green River, WY; Leo (Debbie) Strid, Lodgepole, SD; 19 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Geraldine Howey, Bison, SD; Evelyn (Gene) Gisselbeck, Missoula, MT; Irene Strampher, Hettinger, ND; Leona Petro, Forsyth, MT.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Joe VonHayden, a granddaughter, Angela Rudd, and a brother Albert Chapman.

Visitation will be on Monday one hour prior to services at the Centennial Chapel in Hettinger.
