Evelyn “Laurayne” Frankfurth

Evelyn “Laurayne” Frankfurth, 79, of Iroquois South Dakota, passed away Saturday, January 28th, 2017 at her residence.

Services were held Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Iroquois, SD, with Reverend Kris Larson officiating.  A committal service was held Wednesday as well.


Evelyn “Laurayne” Fairbanks, daughter of Evelyn “Lucille” Fairbanks and Laurence William Fairbanks, was born on November 13, 1937, at Faith SD.  Laurayne was raised at Faith and Dupree, SD.  She graduated in 1955 in Dupree, S.Dak.


Laurayne married Oscar Konrad Frankfurth at Faith, SD, on August 19th, 1956, and then moved to Deadwood. In 1958, they moved to Dupree, then Landry in 1959, and back to Dupree in 1960.  In 1965, they moved to Kulm, ND.  They lived in many rural areas of North Dakota through the years, including Ashley, Kulm, and Forbes. In 1969, they moved to Faulkton, Seneca, and then to Bowdle, where Laurayne began working at the Cargill elevator as the bookkeeper. In 1977 they moved to Aberdeen and she continued to work at Cargill. After 5 years in Aberdeen, they moved to Casper, Wyoming. In 1988 they ended their traveling journey and resided in Iroquois, SD, where she worked in the cafe / grocery store. She retired in May 2015.


Laurayne loved flowers and enjoyed tending to her garden and her yard ornaments. She enjoyed cooking for all her friends and family at the Cafe. Everyone will always remember her famous “Carmel Rolls”. She loved having her grandkids stop by, especially so she could play with her great-grandchildren.  She always looked forward to family get-togethers. She enjoyed playing card games, marbles, dancing, jigsaw puzzles, reading books, and most of all, her “Westerns”.


Laurayne is survived by four children, Roger Frankfurth, California; Deborah (Wayne) Sayler, Texas;  Ronald Frankfurth, Iroquois; and Darlene Frankfurth, Bowdle; one brother, Larry (Cindy) Fairbanks, Belle Fourche; and one sister, Iverne (Jim) Holloway, Faith; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
 

She was preceded in death by her father, Laurence, in 1975; her mother, Lucille, in Dec 1999; her husband, Oscar, in Dec 2003; her son, Rodney, in May 2004; her daughter, Dianna, in June 2015; her brother, Roger, in 1950; and one grandson, Brian, in 1983.
