David Ray Webb

David Ray Webb, 73, passed away on August 18, 2022 in Rapid City, South Dakota. 
David was born to Ray Edward and Frieda Mertz Webb on October 29, 1948 in Rapid City, SD. His father was in the USAF and they traveled to many different places, both domestic and foreign. David was a 1967 graduate of Aberdeen Central High School in Aberdeen, SD. He joined the US Navy in 1969 and served as a Hospital Corpsman. After being discharged from the military, he later attended the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and received his BS as a Physician’s Assistant in 1978. 
David wed Karen Lamb in Jacksonville, FL in 1972. To this marriage, three sons were born: Travis Cyril, Tyler Ray and Stephen Andrew Webb. 
His first job as a Physician Assistant was at the Ft. Meade Veteran’s Hospital at Ft. Meade, SD. He later worked in Faith and Philip, SD before going to surgical school in Maryland. Upon his mother’s death in 1985, he returned to South Dakota and worked in Roscoe, Philip/Kadoka and Clear Lake. He also worked for 13 years at the Neurosurgical and Spine Center in Rapid City. He retired from his profession in 2016.
While at Ft. Meade, he was a Boy Scout leader in Sturgis, SD. In Philip, he coached women’s softball and was a Mason. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid motorcyclist and traveled to many different states throughout the U.S. and Canada with friends.
David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen (Lamb) of Rapid City, SD; his sons, Travis Webb of Rapid City, SD, Tyler Webb of San Francisco, CA and Stephen Webb (Leesa House) and their twin daughters, Ruby Evangeline and Reagan Everly Webb of Pierre, SD; his sister, Elizabeth Webb Rennich Fullerton of New Port Richey, FL and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
David was preceded in death by his father, Ray Webb, Lumberton, NC; his mother, Frieda Mertz Webb Paepke and stepfather, Cyril Paepke, of Groton, SD and Aberdeen, SD.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the Monument Health Cancer Institute and Home Hospice.
According to his wishes, Kirk Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Rapid City, SD will be in charge of his arrangements and there will be no public services.
