Allen Roy Maier

Allen Roy Maier passed away on February 28, 2019 at Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
    Allen was born September 2, 1960 to Milbert and Gertrude (Raile) Maier at Eagle Butte, SD.
Allen was baptized and confirmed at the Emmanual Lutheran Church in Eagle Butte, SD. He attended CEB grade school and 3 years of high school in Eagle Butte and spent his last year of high school graduating from Faith, SD High School in 1978.
    He joined the US Army after graduation. When he completed his time in the service, he returned home and moved to the east coast where he spent many years as a hotel concierge.
His job allowed him to live in many different states. Allen was a very dedicated worker and won many awards and trips for his excellent work ethic. He was very proud of that.
    He met many friends with his jobs and those friendships he truly treasured. Allen’s last move took him to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He enjoyed the warmer climate and living by the ocean where he spent as much time there as possible.
    Allen loved his family and always enjoyed visiting with them every chance he had. He had a special love for his pets, He had a cat and dog which he sadly lost recently in an apartment fire, where the dog woke Allen out of his sleep and saved his life, tragically the dog and cat and did not survive.
    Allen is survived by his brothers, Earl (Alice) Maier Faith, SD; Dale (Dency) Maier, Timber Lake, SD; Adam Joens, Spearfish, SD; Casey Joens, Eagle Butte, SD; Robert (Brandi) Maier, Dallas, Tx; Scott Maier, Missoula MT; Mike Maier, Billings, MT; and Sisters, Lila (Cody) Briggs, Ft. Pierre, SD ; Eva (Jeff) Hepper, Keene, ND; Tammy Wonder, Billings, MT; Terri (Miguel) Franco, Billings, Mt. Step Dad, Fred (Jackie) Joens; and Step Mom, Betty Maier, Billings, Mt. numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and step brothers and sisters.
    Allen was preceded in death by his parents Milbert Maier and Gertrude Joens and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
    Allen’s wishes were to be cremated and have his ashes scattered in the ocean that he loved so much.    
    A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Landmark Hall in Eagle Butte, SD
